The New Accessory for Californians

July 1st, a law went into effect here in California. You have to be hands-free while driving. While that caused an influx of sales for Bluetooth Cell Phone Accessories.

Now, everyone I see around here has a Bluetooth hooked on their ear. People, it's for while you are driving. It seriously drives me crazy when I see people walking around with their Bluetooth headset on their ear. It is not a fashion accessory.

You can take it off and put it away while you are not on the phone. Are you really that important that you need to have it on 24/7?

Just curious.

  1. Ugh...I hate that too. I hate when you can't see one in their ear and they start talking because I feel like they are talking to me.

Now that this new law has taken effect I also see people holding their phone to their mouth and talking using speaker phone, just as bad as holding it to your ear.

  2. ::shudder:: Well, Michigan tends to be about 10 years behind CA, so at least we don't have to worry about that for awhile :)

  3. Hubby wanted one bad until a few months back, while taking grad classes, his professor told him that Blue Tooth puts out as much frequency as a microwave! SCARY

  4. I am guilty of wearing mine all the time.

    1. I live in a metal house. My phone only works in the window sill in some parts of the house. I like to be able to sit down and talk without my forehead being pressed against the window.

    2. My cell phone is my only phone. It is also the only way to communicate with my husband who is a long-haul trucker. I never know when he is going to call, so I always have it with me.

    3. I tried putting it in my purse while shopping, it took me five minutes to find it when he called. I carry a lot of crap with me. It is a mom bag, of course, but it is a cute mom-bag that I made and I don't want to give it up.

Shawn hates the blue-tooth so much that he bought a special cb for the truck that picks up the frequencies of the phone and broadcasts it over the cb. He has every intention of putting it in his pick-up for long trips.

  6. I JUST got a blue tooth speaker for my car. I used speaker straight from the phone but my best friend got pulled over and almost got a ticket because she was on speaker phone! The cop said speaker phone was still illegal because the phone was in her hand??
Anyway I am glad the law passed because us Californian's can not drive anyway without distracions!
Hopefully that texting bill will hurry up and pass. Although I am totally guilty of texting at lights!
