Thirty-Four


Today is my 34th Birthday. My mom was due on Halloween. I think Halloween would have been a much cooler day for a birthday. Can you imagine all the costume parties, I could have had? But none the less, two weeks after Halloween.

I write about this every year, but I get the Birthday Blues. Some people tell me that it's because I have a child now, but this happened BC (Before Child) too. I think my Type-A personality has something to do with it, and expectations.

So I will spend the day devoted to my usual activities...family photographs, taking my son to a birthday party, and then maybe I can head over to Disneyland with my BFF, Stacey.

    Happy Birthday Julie! I hear ya on the birthday blues. Mine is Christmas Day, so it's never *my* day, you know? I hope that you find a special way to make it fun and memorable. :)

    Birthdays are always underwhelming to me, too. So I just do things that are super fun and use my bday as an excuse to get my friends to play along. We brunch, we day drink, we go fun places and just laugh a lot. And yes, people say "Happy Birthday" a lot but really, I'm just glad we're having fun.

    Just wanted to stop in and say happy birthday!!!! Saw your post on SITS!

    I feel the same way about my birthday too,esp the last few years. The birthday blues is the best way to describe it! I always have such high expectations and then the day comes and goes like any other day and I'm like, "yeah, okay...onto the next day"...LOL

    Hi Julie-
    When you go to Disneyland for your birthday, head on over to CA Adventure and have a Margarita or 3 (I'll be there in spirit)... that's my receipe for a Happy Birthday!!!
