Show Us Where You Live Friday-Yards and Garages

We moved in this house 3.5 years ago. Our front planter was a mess of random plants. We found out that every one of the plants was in the wrong area. There were full sun plants, no sun plants, tropical plants, etc. We had the entire front planter removed from our front yard last year by a landscaper. We had it replaced with an English Garden theme. It was all done in a day. We didn't want to take the time to get permission from our HOA. Yes, we are bad. These are pictures that were taken the day everything was planted. It has all filled in now. It looks great and it so easy to maintain.

When we were looking for houses, I had to see ten houses in one day with my realtor. The was the last house that I saw. After seeing the garage, I immediately knew that it was "the one". We've always had issues with storage and we were looking for a house with storage. I saw the cabinets and the floor in the garage and knew that Angry Husband would like my choice. He never saw the house until the final home inspection.

This is an overview of the garage taken from the door that connects from my house to the garage.
This is the right side of the garage. My treadmill is hidden in there. There is also a TV on the shelving unit. It looks like Angry Husband's tools threw up all over right now. He tends to do that. Then I freak out and he organizes it all.
The left side of our garage. See all the lovely cabinets. Plus all those totes on top of the cabinets are full of stuff too. What stuff? I have no clue.
The ceiling of the garage. Ladders, more ladders..oh and all of our Christmas crap. Angry Husband got all giddy last year and thought he was Clark Griswold. Umm, we barely put up any lights. Although we have enough for the entire block.
Our shelving unit next to the door to the house. I tend to jump all of my junk on the unit. Plus the bottle two shelves are full of shoes, mostly mine. These are my everyday shoes. And the white baskets are full of Wii accessories.
Ahhh, and the mecca of our garage. The surround sound, entertainment system. Why is it in our garage? When Angry Toddler was just a little babe, he was into EVERYTHING. So everything got moved to the garage. It stays here now. Plus, really, it isn't pretty.
Thanks for touring my garage. This is where we store everything. Angry Husband and I are very jealous of "you" people whom have basements. Well more him than me... Seeing these pictures makes me want to do a big ole' giant purge!

I can't wait to see everyone else's house this week!!!

Show Us Where You Live Friday: Home Office

Since last weeks post of Children's Rooms, I'm posting the "before" pictures of the rooms in our house. We bought the house in November of 2005.

Our home office had a white wood built in. I think this built-in was original to the house. The built-in looks like it has lots of storage, right? But it was falling apart. Plus Angry Toddler loved to climb it when he was just a baby.

Here are the pictures:
(These were taken at the home inspection, previous owner's stuff).

I love the French doors. I think they are the only thing that we kept in this room. You can see the built-in on the left side of the picture.

This is overall view of built-in taken from the French doors.

The desk.

Here are the "afters":

We got a custom built-in desk put on the opposite wall. We have it framed around the window. We also took out the pink carpeting and put in wood floors. The wood floors in the office aren't an exact match to the rest of the house, but they are pretty close. The A-Z rug is from Pottery Barn Kids. I bought it pretty cheap on ebay.

A closer look at the big wall of the built-in. The paint on the walls is a blue-gray color. It's really not this bright. It just looks bright in the photos. Eventually there will be something on the big blue wall. Right now it's blank. We got this done when Angry Toddler was into EVERYTHING. If you look closely, you can see the "keyed" locks on all the cabinets.

This is the wall that the old built-in was originally on. The shelves are from Pottery Barn. The little table and chairs are from Pottery Barn Kids. Angry Toddler is going to have a computer on this desk. Angry Husband's friend is currently building the computer. I'm sure that he will be in high school by the time that it is done.

My lovely bulletin board from Target. I put odds and ends on there. My favorite thing is Angry Toddler's artwork. Did you notice the black sheep? I had to save that. I just thought it was hilarious that Angry Toddler made a black sheep.

This is our office. If you want to see "MY" real office, you should check our dining room. I use my MacBook on the dining room table. The computer in our office is actually Angry Husband's Dell. He uses it for "gaming".

Show Us Where You Live Friday-Children's Rooms

This is my 3rd entry into Kelly's Korner Blog Carnival. She is featuring "Show Us Where You Live Friday". This week is "Children's Rooms".

You can see my posts about my living room and dining room here.

We bought this house in November of 2005. We knew that the previous owner did not have the same umm, taste, as us. We were ok with that and accepted the many projects that were ahead of us. The biggest project in the house was Angry Toddler's room. It was covered in wall to wall wallpaper. It took Angry Husband, Stacey, and I several days to get rid of this wallpaper. Angry Husband had to re-texture all the walls too. It was awful.

Here are some "before" pictures. This was how the room looked when we did the home inspection.

Since 2005, we are on our third room remodel. Angry Toddler started off in his crib, then a toddler bed, and now his "big boy" twin bed. We are currently going with a "dinosaur theme". Angry Husband does not like it. He wants to re-do the entire room into some kind of camouflage theme. I think this may include skateboards, or something. I told him that he can wait next year when Angry Toddler turns "5".

Here are some pictures of his room when he was in the crib. He climbed out of the crib at about 18 months, and was completely out at about 20 months. We then converted the crib into a toddler bed. He was in the toddler bed from January of 2007 to January of 2008.
The changing table converted to a normal dresser. It was made by Bonavita. We got it from a local baby store. It was very sturdy and I loved his baby furniture store. The shelves are from Pottery Barn.

The crib and the armoire were also made from Bonavita. The bedding is from Pottery Barn Kids. It is from the "Super Saurus collection", which is retired. I bought it on e-bay.

Here is Angry Toddler's room as it currently stands. I took these pictures last week.
The bed is from the Pottery Barn Kids Camp Collection. The rug and bedding are from Pottery Barn Kids Retired "Super Saurus" collection. We had a lot of accessories to match the bed when he was in the crib. I found the twin size bedding and the rug on e-bay. The window valance and the clock above the bed are also from e-bay. I found a seller to custom make them to match the bedding. It's been so long that I don't know the seller anymore. The bean bag is the oversized anywhere bean bag from Pottery Barn Kids.

The dresser is from the Pottery Barn Kids Camp Collection as well. The wood dinosaurs were made by one of my mom's friends. The television is a 32" Insignia with a built-in DVD player. Angry Husband installs home theaters for a living. He's been waiting for a very long time to install a TV in Angry Toddler's room. He mounted it in March. Angry Toddler received the Guitar World Tour set for his birthday last week. Notice that you don't see an XBOX or any cords for the TV? Angry Husband put the XBOX and all of its accessories in our master bedroom closet which is adjacent to Angry Toddler's room. If we want to shut down the XBOX, we just go in our room and unplug it. That happens a lot.

This is Angry Toddler's closet. The opening is very wide and very tall. It goes from floor to ceiling. We hated the doors that were originally on it. We didn't realize that it was a custom size though. We had to special order the new doors from Lowe's. We are still debating whether or not to remove the doors and put a curtain up or something similar.

This photo wasn't taken recently. It was taken a little over two years ago. Angry Husband installed this closet management system from The Container Store. It is part of their Elfa System. It looked great when it was all put together. We slowly started taking it apart when Angry Toddler was CLIMBING it. We had to move his dresser into the closet to block him from climbing it. Of course now he has no interest in the closet. Most of his clothes are in the dresser drawers and bed storage drawers. I often forget about the clothes hanging in the closet. It's probably because he has WAY too many clothes. Notice the lovely pink carpeting. That was changed in 2007.

I hope you enjoyed touring Angry Toddler's room. I know that there was a lot of pictures to go through. I felt that it was a better tour to show how it evolved.
