Happy October...A Few Days Late

Today is the 6th of October. It is finally starting to cool down here in Southern California. For the past two days, Angry Toddler has worn jeans. That's a big jump for Mr. OCD. He transitioned easy. Now that the fall leaves are starting to change and a certain chill is in the air, I'm thinking about some fall decorations. I have a tote of stuff in my garage, that I'm going to have to pull out. That is, if Angry Husband has our tall ladder available.

I'm going to attempt something new in the next few weeks. I have a cookbook put together by my crazy aunt with family recipes. I'm going to try to go through them and pick some out. I will make the recipe at home, and umm test it on my family first. Then I will do a little post about it.

Meanwhile, check out these goodies I found online. They are all about Halloween.

Show Us Where You Live Friday-Master Bedrooms

For this weeks installment of "Show Us Where You Live Friday", we will be touring Master Bedrooms. I love this carnival from Kelly's Korner. I get some many decorating ideas when I tour every one's homes, ahem I mean blogs.

Oh, and let me remind you...my house is tiny, think 1100 sq. foot.

Welcome to my Master Bedroom, actually our Master Bedroom at the Angry House!

An overall view of the bed and nightstands. Bed frame is black metal from Crate and Barrel. One of my favorite things in our house. Probably my most favorite. The nightstands are Rustic Pine. They were custom made for us. Lamps are from Z Gallery. Ceiling fan from Lowe's. Candle holders above the bed are from Pottery Barn. And last, but not least, the bedding. It's from Target, a Waverly Collection from 2004.

The view from our bedroom, the back patio area. We have a sliding glass door to the patio. The curtains are from Pottery Barn.

This is our dresser and TV. YES, we have a TV in the bedroom. I can't fall asleep without it. The dresser is Rustic Pine like our nightstands. The pictures are of Angry Toddler, of course. The TV is a Samsung, a 32", I think. The TV was hung and mounted by Angry Husband. That's his job. You are probably asking, "Where is the cable box, and DVD player? They are in our linen cabinets. See that cabinet in our bathroom area, to the right of our TV, that's where the components are.

This is our closet on the side of the bed. This is opposite of the sliding glass door. The original doors were these ugly off-white ones which were mounted to the ceiling. We had to special order these, due to the height, from Lowe's.

Why did I post a picture of the interior of our closet? It's not that special. We have the Elfa System from the Container Store installed. But do you see what's among the clothing on the shelf? It's an XBOX 360. That XBOX is connected to Angry Toddler's TV in his room. When he's been playing the XBOX too long, we go and pull the master plug. Then we tell him, "Oh no, the XBOX over-heated. It's time to stop playing for awhile." Yes, we lie to our child. He's only four.

Thanks for touring our tiny Master Bedroom. I can't wait to check out every ones!

Show Us Where You Live Friday-Children's Rooms

This is my 3rd entry into Kelly's Korner Blog Carnival. She is featuring "Show Us Where You Live Friday". This week is "Children's Rooms".

You can see my posts about my living room and dining room here.

We bought this house in November of 2005. We knew that the previous owner did not have the same umm, taste, as us. We were ok with that and accepted the many projects that were ahead of us. The biggest project in the house was Angry Toddler's room. It was covered in wall to wall wallpaper. It took Angry Husband, Stacey, and I several days to get rid of this wallpaper. Angry Husband had to re-texture all the walls too. It was awful.

Here are some "before" pictures. This was how the room looked when we did the home inspection.

Since 2005, we are on our third room remodel. Angry Toddler started off in his crib, then a toddler bed, and now his "big boy" twin bed. We are currently going with a "dinosaur theme". Angry Husband does not like it. He wants to re-do the entire room into some kind of camouflage theme. I think this may include skateboards, or something. I told him that he can wait next year when Angry Toddler turns "5".

Here are some pictures of his room when he was in the crib. He climbed out of the crib at about 18 months, and was completely out at about 20 months. We then converted the crib into a toddler bed. He was in the toddler bed from January of 2007 to January of 2008.
The changing table converted to a normal dresser. It was made by Bonavita. We got it from a local baby store. It was very sturdy and I loved his baby furniture store. The shelves are from Pottery Barn.

The crib and the armoire were also made from Bonavita. The bedding is from Pottery Barn Kids. It is from the "Super Saurus collection", which is retired. I bought it on e-bay.

Here is Angry Toddler's room as it currently stands. I took these pictures last week.
The bed is from the Pottery Barn Kids Camp Collection. The rug and bedding are from Pottery Barn Kids Retired "Super Saurus" collection. We had a lot of accessories to match the bed when he was in the crib. I found the twin size bedding and the rug on e-bay. The window valance and the clock above the bed are also from e-bay. I found a seller to custom make them to match the bedding. It's been so long that I don't know the seller anymore. The bean bag is the oversized anywhere bean bag from Pottery Barn Kids.

The dresser is from the Pottery Barn Kids Camp Collection as well. The wood dinosaurs were made by one of my mom's friends. The television is a 32" Insignia with a built-in DVD player. Angry Husband installs home theaters for a living. He's been waiting for a very long time to install a TV in Angry Toddler's room. He mounted it in March. Angry Toddler received the Guitar World Tour set for his birthday last week. Notice that you don't see an XBOX or any cords for the TV? Angry Husband put the XBOX and all of its accessories in our master bedroom closet which is adjacent to Angry Toddler's room. If we want to shut down the XBOX, we just go in our room and unplug it. That happens a lot.

This is Angry Toddler's closet. The opening is very wide and very tall. It goes from floor to ceiling. We hated the doors that were originally on it. We didn't realize that it was a custom size though. We had to special order the new doors from Lowe's. We are still debating whether or not to remove the doors and put a curtain up or something similar.

This photo wasn't taken recently. It was taken a little over two years ago. Angry Husband installed this closet management system from The Container Store. It is part of their Elfa System. It looked great when it was all put together. We slowly started taking it apart when Angry Toddler was CLIMBING it. We had to move his dresser into the closet to block him from climbing it. Of course now he has no interest in the closet. Most of his clothes are in the dresser drawers and bed storage drawers. I often forget about the clothes hanging in the closet. It's probably because he has WAY too many clothes. Notice the lovely pink carpeting. That was changed in 2007.

I hope you enjoyed touring Angry Toddler's room. I know that there was a lot of pictures to go through. I felt that it was a better tour to show how it evolved.

Angry Toddler's Room Renovation is done!

We have been working on Angry Toddler's room for about two years now since he was out of the crib. I feel in love with the Pottery Barn Kids Super Saurus bedding from a couple of years ago. We have the crib set so I searched high and low on e-bay for the twin bedding set.

We got the rug, bedding, and other decorations almost eighteen months ago. The bed was last year's Christmas present from my parent's. The dresser arrived yesterday. I had to miss leave an OC Bloggy/Twitter meet-up to meet the delivery people. The bed and dresser are from Pottery Barn Kid's Camp Collection.

Angry Husband put in the can lighting last Monday. He's so talented. I barely mentioned something about can lights and he was at Lowe's within 15 minutes buying the supplies. The lights look great and the room is so much brighter now.

Of course, all I see in the room when I walk in...is that big red stain on the expensive PBK wool rug. We will call that the "Crystal Light Incident of 2008". We thought Angry Toddler was in his room sleeping. Well Angry Husband went in to check on him and noticed Angry Toddler was sitting in the center of the rub with my container of those Crystal Light packages everywhere. They were all partially torn open and he was eating the contents..LOVELY

So now we are stuck with this stained rug. We've tried everything ourselves to clean it. Does anyone know a place in Orange County that can clean it?

Oh, and side note: Angry Husband thinks the room is babyish. He wants to re-do it all in camouflage. I told him to wait until Angry Toddler is 5.

How Not To Decorate Your Home for Christmas

I was at my mom's last night, trying to help her with her computer. My mom is pretty computer illiterate. She was trying to open a PDF file sent to her via e-mail. While I was there, I was looking at her e-mail inbox.

So my crazy Aunt Bonnie always sends her these random e-mails. Aunt Bonnie is on my Dad's Whiskey Tango (White Trash) side of the family. She always sends these random e-mails. She's been doing it for years. Thankfully, I changed my e-mail address, so I don't get her spam.

My grandma passed away last year, and somehow a last minute will was written. My Aunt Bonnie inherited everything. Yea, can you say all my Dad's siblings are pretty pissed off. So anywho, my Grandma's house was sold off, cause there was a reverse mortgage on it. What does my Aunt do with the money....she bought a trailer!

So she writes this e-mail to all the relatives. This was her exact wording.

"When I applied to live in this Mobile Home Park, the "rules" said, "No potted plants aloud, we take pride in our Mobile Home park and want it to be presentable."

Yea, umm, anyway, I didn't misspell any words. I typed them exactly as she wrote them. So she included these pictures in her e-mail. They are pictures of her neighbors, ah, ahem trailer.

I have nothing against trailers. I promise. I just don't think this is the proper way to decorate for Christmas. I can't imagine what those all look like now. It's been raining soo much lately in Southern California.

P.S. Click the photos. You get a much better look at them, that way!
