I'm in a Coma This Morning

I've been having some dental work done lately. Well with this dental work, comes soreness and pain. My jaw was killing me before bedtime last night. I knew that I would not be able to sleep properly all night.

I went and took some Tylenol Multi-Symptom stuff for nighttime. I've been sick too, so this was to conquer all the ickies in my body. I used to take Tylenol PM, but I'm immune to that now and it doesn't work for me.

I woke up this morning in a complete daze. Angry Toddler is still sleeping, thankfully. It's taken me awhile to get my head together, seriously, I feel like I'm spinning.

I have taken it before, but wow, it never felt like this before.

Hopefully, this feeling will go away soon. I have stuff to do today.

Day Two of Project: Single Parent

Today was Day 2 of being alone without Angry Husband.

Last night I got home from work and took over parenting from my parents. Well not really, we all went to dinner. Then Angry Toddler and I came home, had bath time, and then bedtime.

I dropped Angry Toddler off at school this morning and went to work. Work was ok for me today, but omg it was hot. Seriously, I love the sun, but working in it, not so much. I left work a little early so I could come home and clean up.

I then went and got Angry Toddler from school. He had an excellent day. I grabbed him a Happy Meal (Yes, I'm Parent of the Year!) and we went to San Clemente, where my friend Stacey owns a Little Gym. She had a class tonight that fits Angry Toddler's age group. He had a BLAST. He actually paid attention and participated in the class. It was great. I think we might become regulars there.

After the class, we went to a restaurant with Stacey, Stella (her daughter, AT's BFF), and Carlos, Stacey's husband. Angry Toddler and Stella were quite excited to see each other and Stacey gave them each an allowance of one penny for being good. They were both sooo excited about their "money".

We finally got home and changed into our jammies. I need to check the weather for tommorrow so I can figure out AT's attire for school. I have a parent-teacher conference thing at his preschool tommorrow also.

P.S. Poor Angry Husband. He texted me this morning that it's snowing in Minnesota where he is. Poor Angry Husband. That sucks.

All by Myself

Angry Husband went to a training seminar in Minnesota this week, from tonight until Friday night. Angry Julie is a single parent of one. I hope I can entertain Angry Toddler like his daddy does.

AH is always in charge of bedtime and baths. I hope I'm up to it.

I've got lots of activities scheduled though.

Modern Marvels

Angry Husband is sitting on the couch watching Modern Marvels. He shouts at me from the front room, "Did you hear that Julie?"

I said no what.

He responds, "Pigs can run 7-minute miles?"

Umm, what the hell is that supposed to mean. That a pig can run faster than me.

Angry Husband and I went to Disneyland

Angry Husband took some time off last week from work. We decided to spend one day alone while Angry Toddler was at preschool. Since we have Disneyland Season Passes, we decided to go to Disneyland. We wanted to enjoy some of the rides that Angry Toddler can't go on.

We had a great day. The lines were not long, the weather was good.

I can't wait to have another day like this in a few months or so.

Mommy is Sick

I have soo many posts that I want to do right now, but I literally have no energy. I woke up with a sore throat on Monday. It has turned into a full blown sickness the past two days. Even one of the teachers at Angry Toddler's school said that I need to go to the doctor.

Hopefully, I will feel better soon. I really don't want to go on antibiotics.

Hopefully, this weekend, I will be back to normal.

ENT Appointment

We went to the ENT (Ear Nose Throat) doctor for Angry Toddler's Chronic Ear Infections. The doctor was very understanding. He told us that yes, AT needs tubes put in his ears. He also wanted him to have a hearing test and an x-ray to check his adenoids.

As soon as we left the doctor's office, I called to schedule the appointment for the hearing test. Ugh, I can't get an appointment until May 28th. That is forever. I guess he won't be getting tubes put in until June-ish.

The Great Outdoors

I've been working out almost 6-7 days a week now. Angry Husband says that I need to vary my routine. I usually go on the treadmill in our garage or I go to my local 24 Hour Fitness. I'm scheduled to do about 4 more 5K runs this year, so I'm kinda in training.

AH says that my body is not conditioned to the hard surfaces of sidewalks and asphalt. This is why I suck when I'm running my 5K's. So I took it to the great outdoors this morning.

I strapped on my water bottle holder, along with my cellphone. I then placed my lovely ipod on and went on my way.

I did 80 minutes of walking/running outside this morning. I was able to check out all the neighborhoods. I saw tons of people walking their dogs. People had babies in strollers walking too.

I think I might have to do this more often. Although my allergies are killing me right now!!

Oh, and the picture above is a photo taken of the lake in my homeowner's association. I walked all around this bridge and lake.

Breach of Security

My parents watched Angry Toddler while AH and I were at work. They have been watching him every Saturday. They mentioned something about him opening the garage door, but I really didn't think anything about it.

I went to the bathroom when I got home, as Angry Toddler was watching TV. As I came out of the bathroom, I noticed the access door between the garage and house was open. I was perplexed, thinking, maybe I left it unlocked.

Well, I managed to get AT back in the house. I made sure I locked the door this time. Well sure enough, within two seconds of closing the door, Angry Toddler was at the door. I watched him easily flip both locks open. He then opened the door, stepped in the doorway, and reached up to open the garage door.

I was soo frustrated. So we played in the garage a little. I then tried to distract him with a new puzzle that we had in the garage. I put the puzzle on the kitchen table inside the house, and coaxed AT into the house. He sat there for like 5 minutes while he completed the puzzle, then he was back at trying to unlock the door again.

Well I had one of my usual moments and flipped out. I called Angry Husband and asked him when he would be getting home, as we had a "situation". Angry Husband was about 30 minutes from getting home. So I literally sat in front of the door until he got home. Angry Toddler gave up and went and watched TV.

When AH got home, we immediately made a trip to Lowe's. We went to the lock section, trying to figure out what to do. Angry Husband got an idea while we were there and it only cost us $.95.

So we went home. AH stayed in the garage with his tools. I proceeded to play on the computer while AT watched some Noggin. Within 5 minutes, AH said, all done!

Well what Angry Husband did was, reverse the lock. AH put the keyed part of the lock on the interior of the house and the twist part on the garage side. He then screwed in a little hook ($.95 item) next to the door on the interior part of the house so we could hang the key. Problem solved!

Within 2 minutes Angry Toddler was at the door again. He tried to unlock the door, but then realized that he couldn't. He got this pissed off look on his face and walked away. That's right, Angry Toddler was defeated.

Oh, and we moved up the button which opens the garage door too.

Shopping Today

I'm in quite the mood for blogging. So I would share my newest cute purchase for today. I got these Keen's canvas tennis shoes. They are soo cute and practical. This is my first pair of Keen. My friend Shannon always talks about them, but I don't think I was listening to her.

I got them at REI, which was much cheaper than Zappos.

Carlsbad 5000 Recap

Well I completed the Carlsbad 5000 5K last Sunday. It was my best time ever, 37:48. Seriously, I'm not a running champion, but slow and steady works for me. I beat some of my times from last year by six and eight minutes! Here are some photographs taken of my friend Monique and I. Angry Julie is wearing the I Heart Running shirt. I needed some inspiration.

Spring Yard Makeover

We recently had our front planter re-done. I say, had done, because we didn't replant it. We paid a landscape person to do it. I think it turned out lovely!

The Police came to my house when I was working

My mom called me this morning from her cell. She said, umm, local police department is here and they want to talk to you....

Great! Good times! Apparently, my dogs have been barking all morning and the neighbors behind us called and complained. The neighbors claimed that we were gone all weekend long, every weekend, and we left those poor dogs home alone to bark.

Umm, the dogs barked this morning at 5:45 am, cause that's when I left for work. I leave for work at 5:45 am, Friday though Monday. They bark when the garage is opened. They bark when someone comes to our house.

The funny thing is, we are almost always home. There's someone home every day of the week.

So my mom put the woman on the phone, whom was Local Police Department Animal Control. Good thing the law enforcement community is a small world here in Orange County. Hahahahah, cause I knew the mean ole' Animal Control Officer. It was a former co-worker of mine. We re-united, made plans for a future lunch date, and I got lectured about not licensing my dogs. Yes, I'm a violator. I'm writing the check out today so I can get them properly licensed.

My friend, the AC Officer, told me that she would go and talk to the neighbors. She would advise them, that yes, indeed, there is someone at home, all the damn time and we are not ignoring the dogs!

Anyway, this prompted yet another trip to PetSmart. I had to buy another bark collar. We now have (2) bark collars, one of each of my four-legged children. They get soo excited and bark, bark, bark.

Angry Husband and I discussed the doggies. We decided to give them each a bath on Monday and bond with them during the day. We might even take them on a special trip to dog beach or the dog park.

Trying to enjoy a simple fast-food dinner

I was working the late shift last night, and I was tired. I'm not used to working nights. I have been working some nights the past two weekends, since my co-worker is on vacation.

It was 7pm and I realized that I had not eaten dinner. Well I wasn't very hungry and I was feeling kinda cheap. I headed to the local fast food establishment, Wendy's, to purchase some items from there wonderful $1 menu. I ordered my small chili and caesar salad.

I sat down at an empty booth with my food and my book. I prompty stuck my nose in my book, while putting spoonfuls of chili in my mouth, when "he" sits down, in the booth behind me. Ugh, a local teenage boy.

YES, I was on duty, working. Yes, I was in my uniform. The conversation went like this:

Teenager: So do have a gun?

Me: No, I'm civilian CSI.

Teenager: Do you see lots of blood and guts?

Me: Yes, it's part of my job.

Teenager: Why don't you work in LA?

Me: Because I work here.

Teenager: What cool CSI things have you seen and/or done?

Me: All kinds. Can I go back to eating now?

The teenager turns around and sits down with his two other friends. He speaks very loud and obnoxiously when they are all eating. He apparently and obviously wanted me to hear their conversation. I just wanted to eat my cheap food and read my book.

Things like this happen every time I go out to a restaurant when I'm working. Someone always has to come and ask me stupid questions and interrupt my 30 minutes of peace, well not really peaceful, cause my radio is still on.

When I got up to throw my trash away, the teenager asked if I could hear his conversation. I said, "Well you were talking as loud as my 3 year does? What do you think?" and I walked out.

Carlsbad 5000

Sunday is my first 5K of the year. I'm doing it with my running pal, Monique. I haven't been able to do any other runs this year since I work weekends. I hope my time is good. I've been training alot lately.

I work nights the next two days, and then I'm off work Sunday and Monday. I need to get all my running gear organized today though, since I won't have time before my run.

Well, I gotta go now, time to train!

Disneyland

Where have we been? Well it's been a busy week. We decided to renew our season passes to Disneyland. We went to Disney two times this week. Angry Toddler was really excited to see Mickey Mouse. But, oh boy, it was expensive. We had to get two season passes and two parking passes. Angry Husband got parked too. He wants to take AT to Disney sometimes when I'm working, what a good daddy.

The first time we went to Disneyland, it got really cold all of a sudden. We didn't realize that it would be so cold. Ugh, of course parents of the year forgot to bring a jacket for their toddler. So we went in one of their many stores and bought a lovely zip-up hoody for the nice price of $39 plus a $10 ball that AT couldn't live without.

Last night, we went again. We picked Angry Toddler up from preschool at 3pm and drove to Disney. It was a nice calm day there. I think everyone thought that it was going to rain all night, so they didn't go to Disneyland. It was fantastic. We jumped right on the rides. We even got to the go on Finding Nemo. Seriously, we've been to Disneyland at least 15 times since this ride opened last year. We have never been able to get on the ride, since there was like a 2 hour wait.

My review of the ride? It wasn't all that. I don't know why we wanted to go on it so bad. Angry Toddler loved it though. We were under the water and there were the Nemo cartoons. He thought it was fantastic. Angry Husband didn't like being trapped underwater with stinky people though. Ahh, one less ride we can ignore from now on!

Wishing Good Luck to a Friend

My friend is getting a boob job today!!!! I'm wishing her luck on her surgery. She should be coming out of surgery soon, since there's a time delay between us!

Rusty the Snake

My parents watched Angry Toddler all day last Saturday. This was the first time that they've watched him for a full day since September. My mom neglected to come and get my car, so they had no car with a carseat.

They choose to stay at home and play in our front yard. Well it was a VERY long day for both of my parents.

My dad was trying to train Angry Toddler to not get into things that he wasn't allowed to be in. Our back patio for example, we have locks on our sliding glass doors. The back patio is mostly used as a dog run for us and the dogs leave their poop there. I clean it once a day at least, but sometimes AT is too fast and he wants to touch the poo-poo.

So my dad told Angry Toddler that "Rusty the Snake" lives in the backyard and he bites. Seriously, ever since Saturday, he's been talking about Rusty. For the past two mornings, Angry Toddler told me to be very quiet in a whispering voice, "Momma be quiet, Rusty is sleeping in the bushes".

It's hilarious and now has become a big game in this house. We don't want to upset Rusty or he will bite. I keep forgetting to ask AT's teachers if he's talking about Rusty at school too.
