Dr. Phil and Dooce

Remember I posted about going to the Dr. Phil Show in August here, well the episode is airing tomorrow, Wednesday the 14th of October.

The show is titled "Guilty Moms". It's about working moms vs. stay-at-home moms. Yea, umm guilt, really don't have it. Ironically, most of the stay-at-home moms I know, they are doing some kind of work. Whether it's running a blog, a photography business, an etsy store, or some kind of hard core volunteering.

Oh, and Heather Armstrong from Dooce, was a guest also.

And I may have stood up and said something during the show, hopefully they will edit me out, I'm serious. I was shaking and stuttering, not good at all.

OMG It's HOT!!!!

I am going to sound like a cry baby right now. I never really talk about work much on my blog. I try and keep it seperate. I don't want to get into trouble, ya know.

So I'm sitting here at work, in my 3 layers of clothing (work uniform). I keep getting requested to go out in that blazing sun!!!

I know that 86 degrees doesn't sound hot, but it really is. I feel like I'm melting....

I'm soo happy I only have one more hour left. Then I can go home to my nice air conditioned house. With my small child jumping all over me, but sigh, at least it's air conditioned.

My Baby or My Job

I haven't watched Oprah in a long time. I'm really not a big fan of Oprah, like I once was. My friend Sally told me that she was watching an interesting episode. It was about the controversy of working vs. stay-at-home moms. This topic is very close to my heart, as a working mom.

I'm on alot of parenting forums and website. This topic is almost as controversial as breastfeeding, co-sleeping, and circumcision.

I work because I have to and like to. It's my choice. I believe that I can do both worlds, which makes me a better parent for my son. I have realized within the past year, that I am not that type of person who could stay home. I believe that this is the right choice for my family and that I should not be judged for this choice. There were valid points on the show, that women should respect each other's choices and not judge. I believe that women do judge alot. I do not understand, when someone judges me and they don't about the circumstances in my life and why I make these choices.

I think as part of this new feminism. Its about more choices for women. Some people may choose to work, and some may stay at home. It's none of my business to judge them for the choices that works for their individual family.

For the past few months, my son has started at a preschool. Some people may call it a daycare, I truly believe that it is a school. My son was already speaking before he went to school. But, the words are definately flowing now, he is learning soo much.

I believe that children need outside influences in their lives to be better human beings. He has learned things that I could never teach him. For example; sharing, How do I teach an only child to share in my house? I can't. He needs the outside influences to learn these things. I feel that he is learning these things at a younger age, will enrich his future as a boy, student, and person.

Anyway, this Oprah episode really inspired me.

Here's a link to info about the episode.
