Little Miss Sunshine

Yep. That's me, come January 4th. Praise Baby Jesus!!! I will be back on dayshift. One more month of working nights. I won't have to work nights again until May, unless it's overtime.

I'm counting down the days.

I will still be working weekends though. I'm ok with that.

You Know You Work in Law Enforcement If...

If you pay attention to my blog, you know that I work in law enforcement. My co-worker is doing a speech class and she was preparing a speech today. Her speech was about working in law enforcement. She printed off this list and everything on it pretty much applies to me. It's hilarious. You would have to work in law enforcement to understand some of the things, but I'm going to post it anyway.

1. You have the bladder capacity of five people.

2. You have ever restrained someone and it was not a sexual experience.

3. You believe that 50% of people are a waste of good air.

4. Your idea of a good time is a gun run or a car chase.

5. You conduct a criminal record check on anyone who seems friendly towards you.

6. You believe in aerial spraying of Prozac and birth control pills.

7. You disbelieve 90% of what you hear and 75% of what you see.

8. You have your weekends off planned for a year.

9. You believe the government should require a permit to reproduce.

10. You refer to your favorite restaurant by the intersection at which it's located.

11. You have ever wanted to hold a seminar entitled: "Suicide...getting it right
the first time."

12. You ever had to put the phone on hold before you begin laughing uncontrollably.

13. You think caffeine should be available in IV form.

14. You believe anyone who says, "I only had two beers" is going to blow less than a .20.

15. You find out a lot about paranoia just by following people around.

16. Anyone had ever said to you, "There are people killing other people out there and you are here messing with me."

17. People flag you down on the street and ask you directions to strange places...and you know where they are located.

18. You can discuss where you are going to eat with your partner while standing over a dead body.

19. You are the only person introduced at social gatherings by profession.

20. You walk into places and people think it's high comedy to seize their buddy and shout, "They've come to get you, Bill."

21. You do not see daylight from until May.

22. People shout, "I didn't do it!", when you walk into a room and think they're being hugely funny and original.

23. A week's worth of laundry consists of 5 t-shirts, 5 pairs of socks, and 5 pairs of underwear.

24. You've ever referred to Tuesday as "my weekend", or "this is my Friday".

25. You've ever written off guns and ammunition as a business deduction.

26. You believe that unspeakable evils will befall you if anyone says, "Boy, it is sure quiet tonight."

27. Discussing dismemberment over a meal seems perfectly normal to you.

28. You find humor in other people's stupidity.

29. You hav eleft more meals on the restaurant table than you've eaten.

30. you feel good when you hear, "these handcuffs are too tight".

Work Vent!

Ugh, yes today is a Holiday. But alas us law enforcement peeps never close for business.

Well City Hall sent out a memo that they were shutting down the water in the entire City Complex all day long. The e-mail stated, "Since most people are off on Monday, it won't affect many people".

I drink alot of water. I will have to go to my mom's house or the mall to use the bathroom, ugh!

My Person of the Week: Co-worker Jen

I would like to give a shout out to my co-worker, Jen. I came into work today and was pleasantly surprised. Jen signed up to work Christmas Eve night for me. Yay Jen!

Jen also bought me a drink last week when we were out and about.

I'm including this pic of Jen, that I stole from her MySpace account. This is one of the last few pictures taken of her as a blond last year. She realized that being a brunette was not for her today. She will be going back to the old-Jen at the beginning of 2008!

Thank You Jen!

Working, Nine 2 Five

It's been ten years since I graduated college. I graduated in December of 1997, and in January, I joined the work force. My parents stressed the fact that I needed to get a full-time job with health insurance. I did. I've been working full time since then without a break, at the same damn place!!!

But alas, the life of a public servant. We work shift work, yes crappy, non-normal hours. So I'm sitting here at 2am writing this post, why, because I'm at work. Normal people work Monday through Friday, from 9-5. Noo, Angry Julie works Friday through Monday from 4pm-2:30am.

I'm half asleep, waiting patiently until the clock turns 2:30, so I can run out of her, jump in my SUV and drive home. Then I will try and crawl in bed. 75% Angry Toddler will be on my side of the bed, under the covers. So I will have to make the decision, sleep in our bed, or go to the couch.

Then, at around 7:30am, Angry Toddler was come to wake me up. Most likey by hitting me on the head with some small toy, "Mama mama, wake up!".

It's been busy here tonight. Lots of drunk people and Halloween parties.

On a positive note, I did get to visit one of my favorite places tonight. Yes, Target. I am one of those nuts hunting down The Little Einsteins Pat Pat Rocket. Does my son even like The Little Einsteins, probably not! But I must hunt one of those things down. It has become my quest. Knowing my luck I will finally find one, and decide that he doesn't need it. I think I just like the hunt. I ended up walking about of Target with a skull shaped trick or treat bucket, and some cleaning products.

I've been sitting here in the office the rest of the night lurking on all my favorite blogs and websites. I've found a couple of new ones tonight. I'm always anxious to read about people like me.

I hope I survive the day tommorrow. Angry Husband is going to be working and it's up to me to entertain. We can't go outside, there is tons of ash from the fires. Then back to work, I go, same time, same place. But alas, definately not 9-5.

A Day in the Life of Julie, Not So Angry Monday

I rolled out of bed at 8:30am, this morning. AH asks, "Do you want eggs, breakfast?" Well of course I do. I venture to the kitchen table while he prepares me some eggs and toast. He knows this is the only normal meal I will eat today, as I can't even boil water.

I proceed to eat my delicious plate of eggs and toast. A few minutes later the doorbell rings, it's our cleaning people. I deal with dirty people at work all day, I refuse to clean dirty toilets. So the girls get to work, while I hop on the computer.

So I sit here reading the blogs, surfing e-bay, and g-chatting it up with my friends.

I then suddenly realize that I'm on call for court for work. Yep, that's right, I'm getting paid for two hours of work while I sit here in my pajamas, surfing the net, while people clean my house.

Sometimes, it's good to be me...

Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you all..Angry Toddler is at preschool!

I'm going back to being a night owl!!!

Well after two years of working in the daytime, I'm finally going back to nights. It's going to be really strange. Today is my last day working dayshift. You think I would be out enjoying the sunshine? Heck no, there's too much traffic outside and people are cranky.

I'm kinda glad I'm going back to nights. I get to sleep in longer and wake up without an alarm clock. Going to bed at 3am is a whole other story.

So, if I get kinda random on my blog posts, just remember to look at the time it posted.

Nosey People

People are soo nosey these days.....why is that? I mean I'm nosey, but it's genetic...

Today, I was working. I was sitting in the work vehicle, minding my own business, reading a book on my lunch. A random guy approaches, I swear I did not make any eye contact with this idiot. He says, "Oh, I see you like to read. I wrote a book." Than he proceeds to hand me a piece of paper with the book title and website on a Starbucks receipt? Did I look like I wanted to be bothered??

My neighborhood....I swear is full of nosey people. We live on the corner, across from a park. I swear, every friggin time we have our garage open...people drive really really really slow and rubberneck. They almost get into accidents trying to look into our garage. I mean it's not like we have a science experiment going on? We have my truck, some cabinets, and the treadmill (aka clothesrack)....
