Where I've Been...Viva Las Vegas!!

I took a little siesta this weekend and went to Las Vegas. I went to Vegas to visit some friends and other things. I couldn't get Friday off (thanks co-worker who took the night off, but came into work anyway), so I went Saturday and Sunday.

I flew from the airport here in Orange County to Las Vegas, NV. Of course, the flight had barely any people in it. I choose to sit next to a typical Orange County. Mr. Orange County proceeded to tell me that he works for the railroad, that he makes loads of money, and that he brought $12,000 cash with him to Vegas. Mr. Orange County did not care to see that I had my iPod on, and was in the process of reading three different magazines. I tried to ignore Mr. Orange County but he would not shut up!

After a very rough flight, we arrived in Las Vegas. Ahhh, I love the sound of slot machines when you enter the airport terminal. It's such a calming sound to me.

I did a few things in town and then I met up with my friend, Lindsay. Lindsay know each other from parenting forums, and have been chatting online for over a year. We started off the night by going outlet shopping.

I went to the Stride Rite outlet and bought Angry Toddler some shoes. And I know some might be offended, but I got him some light up tennis shoes. They have firetrucks on them with lights.

Lindsay and I agreed that the Angry Toddler would love jumping around in his new shoes. We shopped some more and decided that there was nothing else we would need. Shocking, I know!!! I just wasn't feeling the shopping!

We then ventured to Lindsay's Hotel Egypt. I met some of her Boutique Design Group friends. Lindsay is a customs designer on e-bay. I met some very nice girls. We then ventured back to my Hotel, to get ready for dinner.

I will continue the saga of my Vegas Trip in Part 2 later today...

Margaritas at El Torito

I went out for margaritas with a friend last night. We went to the mall, of course, duh. Anyway, there's a new El Torito there. We thought we would try it, and then do some shopping for the kiddos after.

We ordered are margaritas. I like mine blended, she likes hers on the rocks. I compare mine to a slurpee of some sort. I'm such a kid sometimes. I got the blended strawberry margarita with salt on the sides of the glass. It took a little while for us to get chips and salsa, but eventually we realized that we were without the traditional Mexican restaurant appetizer.

Our service was superb, ok, almost obnoixous. Seriously, I swear 5 different people came by and asked us how everything was, cleaned our table, refilled chips, poured our drinks. I had barely put my fork down and they were taking away my plate. It was a bit overkill.

We ate way too much and then proceeded to go shopping. We have a sick obsession of buying clothing for our kids. Seriously, my child has more clothes than my husband and I put together. Yet, I keep buying...

We went to this new store called Crazy 8. It is owned by the Gymboree Company. I had a shopping list from several other moms too. I ended up spending about $300, all my child got was 2 shirts and 2 pairs of pants...

It was a much enjoyed night off for both mommies...I need to do that more often.

Something posted on one of my Forums

I was lurking on my internet Forums aka Message Boards the other night and saw this posted. It really captures how I feel about the Internet and my online buddies. So Thanks Krissi for posting this:

Friends Without Faces

We sit and we type and we stare at our screens,
We can't help but wonder what all of this means.
With mouse in hand ...we roam through this maze,
On an infinite search...lost in a daze.

We chat with each other, we type all our woes
At times we'll band together to gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody, to type out our name
We want recognition, but it is always the same.

Soon friendships are formed - but - why we don't know,
But some of these friendships, will flourish and grow.
We give kisses and hugs, and sometimes we'll flirt,
In IMs we chat deeply, and reveal why we hurt.

Why is it on screen, we are so easily bold,
Telling our secrets, that have never been told.
The answer is simple, it is as clear as a bell,
We all have our problems, and need someone to tell.

We can't tell real people, but tell someone we must
So we turn to our 'puters ...and to those we can trust.
Even though it sounds crazy...the truth still remains,
Most of my "friends" have no faces...and odd little names.
